Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner “had been living apart for months” before the musician filed for divorce.
The Jonas Brothers star ended four years of marriage on Tuesday (September 5) by filing for divorce in Miami, Florida, saying the relationship was “broken beyond repair.” A new report suggests the couple have been apart for the whole summer, with Joe taking his two daughters on tour with him, while Sophie worked in the UK.
A source told PEOPLE, “(They spent) the whole summer apart… They weren’t separated, but they had been living apart for months… As a family, they were based in Florida. children had been with him for the past few months, traveling with him and his family while he was on tour. Sophie was working in the UK”.
The insider went on to say that the couple ‘didn’t get along for a while but are hoping to resolve this amicably’.
The source adds, “As far as custody of the kids goes, this all just happened so they’re sorting it out in real time. They had a prenup.”
Joe called for ‘shared parenting’ with the 27-year-old actress and asked that a ‘parenting plan (be) drawn up’ for his daughter Willa, three, and their 14-month-old baby girl, who is not is cited only by her initials DJ in the documents, in order to allow “frequent and continuous contact with both parents”.
