Love a thousand… miles (Going the Distance) is a 2010 film directed by Nanette Burstein, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.
Erin and Garrett are spending their summer vacation in New York when they meet, fall in love and have a short but intense relationship.
After the holidays, the two believe that everything is over because while he stays in New York she returns to his hometown: San Francisco.
Despite the distance that separates them, however, they will not be able to do without each other and decide, despite the contrary opinions of their friends, to continue their long-distance relationship.
New Line Cinema approved the script written by Geoff LaTulippe in early 2009 and entrusted the film to Nanette Burstein. The casting phase took place mainly in March and actors Justin Long and Drew Barrymore were among the first actors to join the cast. Filming began in the following months, which took place entirely in New York.
The film was released in US theaters on August 13, 2010, by New Line Cinema. Warner Bros. took care of the rest of the world, including Italy, where the film was released just under a month after its US release on September 3.
The Chicago Tribune expressed a positive opinion on the film, particularly appreciating Eric Steelberg’s photography and Drew Barrymore’s portrayal.Digital Spy explained that it is a nice and funny film, as it is very realistic, while The Reel Critic appreciated the chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, calling them perfect for the role they played. Positive comments for the film and Drew Barrymore’s performance have also come since San Francisco Chronicle.
