The 49th American Film Festival of Deauville has unveiled its program. This new edition will take place from September 1 to 10 and will notably welcome Natalie Portman, director Luc Besson and Carole Bouquet.
Deauville 2023: the personalities not to be missed
Like every year, the Deauville Festival honors American cinema. Taking place this year from September 1 to 10, this 49th edition will once again be keen to reveal the talents of tomorrow, while welcoming the great figures of the moment. The proof with the complete program which was unveiled by the organizers, via a press release.
Thus, among the most striking names, that of Natalie Portamn did not go unnoticed. Oscar-winning actress for black swan is expected to receive a Deauville Talent Award. In addition to paying tribute to him for his career, the festival will preview his next film, May-December by Todd Haynes. Note that the director will also be present for the screening of his feature film. However, with the strike of actors and actresses in Hollywood, the actress should not normally be able to promote the film if by then no agreement is reached between the studios and the SAG-AFTRA union.
In addition to the actress, the comedian Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones) will also receive a Deauville Talent Award and will present the film She Came to Me by Rebecca Miller. While Jerry Schatzberg will receive a tribute.
But the Deauville 2023 festival will also be an opportunity for festival-goers to see other personalities with meetings organized this year with Carole Bouquetmusician Kyle Eastwood and French director Luc Besson. The filmmaker will be present for a conversation and for the presentation of his new feature film DogMan.
Movies to watch
On the “firsts” side, there will be both American and French productions, and elsewhere. Thanks to the “L’Heure de la croisette” selection, the public will be able to discover the superb Pick up of Marco Bellocchioor The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley with Romain Duris. With the “Window on French cinema” section, note the presentation of Captives by Arnaud des Pallières while Nothing to lose with Virginie Efira will receive the Prix d’Ornano-Valenti 2023.
