Ludwik Tokarz is dead. The former coach of Justyna Kowalczyk was 70 years old

The former runner herself informed about the death of the coach, who is considered to be one of the first discoverers of the talent Kowalczyk.

“Very sad news. Ludwik Tokarz has passed away. My trainer from the Sports Championship School. A renaissance man I could always count on. Thank you for everything, Coach” – Kowalczyk-Tekieli wrote on social media on Sunday evening.

“Cheerful personality and life wisdom”

A lot of comments appeared on Facebook under the post of the former leading runner, including from former charges. As Krystyna Murdzek, currently the president of the Polish Post Transplant Sports Association, added in the entry, the coach died in Zakopane.

“Goodbye, my friend. Ludwiczek, we’ve known each other since studying at the University of Physical Education in Krakow. It’s almost 47 years. In my life I have never known a guy with such a cheerful personality and life wisdom” – she added.

Before Tokarz found his way to SMS in Zakopane, where he met, among others, Kowalczyk, who later became a five-time medalist of the Olympic Games, took the position of a coach at KS Podhale Nowy Targ in 1983. There he worked for 11 years, and in 2013 he was awarded the statuette of Merit by this club.
