Manchester City – PSG. City snatched a win, what a game it was! UEFA Champions League

Manchester City’s match against Paris Saint-Germain was going to be excellent. The value of both teams is estimated at an unimaginable EUR 2 billion. And on the pitch, from the very first minute, world-class stars: Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva from Man City and Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the colors of PSG fought.

Both teams are leading in group A. The team from England took first place with 9 points, the Parisians were behind his back, with only an “eye” of the loss. Man City could win the promotion to the 1/8 finals. But PSG players had the same goal.

The Emirates Stadium was boiling from the start with Manchester City attacking hard. Already in the 5th minute, after a corner kick, Rodri hit his head, the ball was already flying to the net, but at the last moment PSG saved Presnel Kimbembe.

The hosts got excited with each attack, it smelled more and more of the opening goal. After another great action, Riyad Mahrez hit from about 7 meters, but Achraf Hakimi stood on his way to happiness, and he hit the ball without it falling into the net. PSG was clearly on the defensive. The first accurate – although simple for the goalkeeper – shot from the French was fired only in the 27th minute.

And Pep Guardiola’s team played like in a trance. In the 33rd minute Ilkay Guendogan hit the post, after a while only the dedicated parade of the PSG goalkeeper saved his team from losing a goal. The French runners-up were helpless in the first half, and the best picture of this was Mbappe’s attempt, who hit high above the bar on a good occasion. Until the break, however, there was a goalless draw.

At the start of the second half, Paris Saint-Germain shocked Man City! The ball fell at Kylian Mbappe’s feet, he was in the penalty area and did not think for a long time. The French struck with all his might and defeated Ederson. After the goal, the French runners-up caught the wind in their sails and began to seize the initiative.

But after a moment of apathy, Man City came back “to life”. There was a spark between the players of both teams, at times the referee had to sharpen them.

The English champions finally got their way. In the 63rd minute, Kyle Walker ran the ball along the goal, Raheem Sterling caught the pass and with the tip of his boot pressed the ball into the net. Emotions were at their peak!

Trio Messi – Neymar – Mbappe played a great action in the 74th minute. Mbappe started it all, Messi played to Neymar, who was only a few meters from the goal. The Brazilian, however, made a mistake by a meter and the entire attack was summed up only by a groan of disappointment among the visitors’ supporters.

Unused situations like to take revenge, and so it was this time. Literally a few minutes later, Bernardo Silva cleverly passed to Gabriel Jesus, who with stoic calm defeated Navas from a few meters.

PSG players wanted to equalize, but were unable to get through the machine that Pep Guardiola built. Manchester City finally beat the French runner-up 2-1 and took a well-deserved set of points. Messi, Mbappe, Neymar and Co. failed and for much of the game they were just the backdrop for a rushing rival.

In the second game of this group, RB Leipzig defeated Club Brugge 5: 0 away. These results mean that both Man City and PSG will play in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League this spring.
