It was the first of a series of animated series for an adult audience based on Marvel characters.
Marvel characters can do a lot of amazing things, but not save themselves from the judgment of TV executives it seems. It doesn’t happen often, but a TV series from the giant and successful entertainment brand has been canceled. Hulu has announced that it will not produce a second season of Marvel’s MODOKan animated series for an adult audience focused on the very bad but scaled-down Mental Organism Designated Only to Kill.
Voiced in the original version by Patton Oswalt (Agents of SHIELD), MODOK it was to be the beginning of a renewed era for Marvel characters on Hulu. However, things continue to not go well, contrary to what is happening on the “sister” Disney +. The series was part of an order of four animated adaptations, two of which – Howard the Duck And Tigra & Dazzler – have never seen the light. The other, Hit-Monkeyin Italy available in streaming on Disney + with MODOK, has not yet been renewed. Also, before these Hulu had also canceled the horror drama Helstrom.
Despite the premature stop a MODOKadult entertainment will continue to be central to Hulu’s offering: as well as renewing Solar Opposites for another four seasons, the service will report on TV Futurama with 20 new episodes.
