MATCH RATINGS: Tottenham 0: 1 Chelsea (aggregate 0: 3) [półifnał Pucharu Ligi] – Chelsea Poland

Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 away in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final and advanced to the final at Wembley (3-0 aggregate result). Below, we present our editorial staff’s ratings for this meeting, on a scale of 1 to 10. The initial rating is 5.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7

A very good match from the Spanish representative, if you ignore the situation, which resulted in the final unrecognized goal of Harry Kane – then he gave Jorginho the ball “on the horse”, but it is worth mentioning that right after that he intelligently set an offside trap for the English striker. He has had four interventions, three of which are unforgettable. We are talking about those after Emerson Royal’s head shot, a one-on-one won duel with Lucas Moura, or the defense at the very end of the match due to the confusion in the penalty area.

César Azpilicueta – 6

He did not stand out. Playing as a right-back, his offensive tasks were limited and he had no remarkable interventions from the rear.

Andreas Christensen – 7

He played confidently and bravely passed between the lines. He played well in advance, collecting balls from which the hosts tried to organize a quick attack.

Antonio Rüdiger – 8

He started off with a strong accent, sending a great top pass to Romelu Lukaku. He impressed with his unconventional play and reliability in defense, where he dealt with Kane without any major problems. Almost flawless with the ball by the foot – 97 percent of his applications found an addressee. He was the author of the winning goal, winning the position in the penalty area and jumping to Gollini’s empty run.

Malang Sarr – 7

He played in an unseemly position, but he did unexpectedly well. From the beginning of the match, he played aggressively, with frequent physical contact with the opponent, courageously joining the offensive. His crosses left a lot to be desired, but it is worth appreciating the solid competition played in a non-nominal position.

Jorginho – 6

He protected the team involved in the offensive well, often collecting balls from the Tottenham defenders in the penalty area. A solid performance.

Mateo Kovačić – 6

He worked well with Jorginho, he had a rather calm match without spectacular plays, but above all without any worthy mistakes.

Mason Mount – 6

As above. However, he distinguished himself with an assist, because his only goal in this match was scored after his center from a corner kick.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6

He led out counterattacks several times, he could play against one contact with Lukaku or Werner.

Romelu Lukaku – 5

On the plus side – he plays with his back to the goal, cooperation with Timo Werner, staying on the ball and reaching the opportunity after Rüdiger’s long ball. On the downside – he had three goals to score. None of them were 100%, but the Belgian in optimal form would have finished this match with at least one goal. Balance is zero, the initial assessment remains.

Timo Werner – 6

There was a lot of energy in his game from the beginning, looking for a place in the side zones, as well as trying to play in one contact with his colleagues from the offensive. He had the opportunity when the ball hit him in front of the penalty area, but his lob flew over Gollini’s goal. He sent several flat crosses that were threatening. Performance is a plus.

Marcos Alonso – 6

He well belayed the left side in the tip. He created one opportunity for Lukaku by sending a very good cross from the line.

Hakim Ziyech – 5

He distinguished himself in action, in which he played under the penalty area with the Lukaku stave. He fired one shot on goal.

Thiago Silva – Unrated

He came in to calm the game and bring some lead to the end without any negative emotions. There is nothing to judge him from, because the hosts were practically helpless in overcoming the defensive of The Blues.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N’Golo Kanté – not rated
