Since resigning from royal duties, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have cut themselves off from the royal family and do not shy away from criticizing its structures in public. They confessed to Oprah Winfrey that they could not count on anyone’s support, and the interview itself was widely echoed. As a result, relations with the royals became as cold as never before. Meghan and Harry want to fix their contacts with the family. They came up with the idea to organize their daughter’s baptism in Great Britain, but they want to do it on their own terms. They have one condition that must be met – otherwise the royals will not see Diana’s Lilibet for a long time, and some – especially the almost 100-year-old queen – may never see her.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want their daughter baptized in Great Britain. They have one condition
The Sussexs intend to actively work to rebuild at least some of their relationship with the royal family. According to The Sun, Harry called Queen Elizabeth with an “olive branch” and made an offer. Together with Meghan they will baptize Diana in Great Britain according to the Lilibet tradition. They even offered to schedule the baptism according to the queen’s busy schedule, as her presence is their priority and the condition under which the ceremony will take place in the UK at all. As reported by “The Sun”, they also asked to meet the queen on their next trip.
And here it is worth remembering that Queen Elizabeth did not participate in Archie’s baptism, although it took place in Great Britain, as is tradition. The spouses now count on the presence of the queen, which will add importance to the celebration – otherwise the baptism will take place in the States without the presence of Harry’s family.
Their idea seems carefully thought out. Theoretically, they want to appreciate the monarch this way, but not all supporters of the royal family view it in this way. Some members of the royal staff feel that Harry and Meghan’s offer is simply inappropriate. Given what Queen Elizabeth had to go through, they had no right to impose conditions on her. The informant admitted that the offer has not yet been considered. Little has been said about whether to invite them to a Christmas party.
Her Majesty’s Staff has so far not responded to the proposal. In fact, there was a discussion about Christmas – and whether an invitation should be sent to Harry and Meghan after they rejected it last year, the informant confessed.
The Queen is said to take her time to answer her question. She has not seen Archie since 2019, and has yet to meet in person with Lilibet, who was born in June. It seems that the Sussexs’ proposal-demand does not improve their situation, but even makes it worse. Putting conditions on the queen? Meghan and Harry may not even receive an invitation to the family’s Christmas celebration, let alone arrange a convenient date for them to meet the Queen.
