Meghan Markle the dog was forced to stay in Canada because “he never went to Harry” | Royal

Meghan Markle, 40, left her adopted dog Bogart with friends in Canada, Sussex allies say. The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly devastated when she left her “baby” in Toronto to move with her second husband to California in 2017.

A source told The Sun: “Meghan loved the dog, but the decision not to bring him back was based on Bogart’s relationship with Harry.

“Bogart never went to Harry when they were spending time together in Canada.

“He wasn’t in love with Harry. Meghan was very loud about how bringing him back full time would be unfair given Bogart’s feelings for her husband.

“Of course, her employees in the UK who found out about her decision found her statement very strange, but took it very seriously as Meghan knows her dogs.”

Jason Knauf, Prince Harry’s secretary of communications, previously confirmed that Mrs. Markle’s dog lives “with friends” of the couple, but did not add any further information.

Bogart was Mrs Markle’s first dog and she spoke affectionately about the cross of a German Shepherd Dog with a Labrador in an interview with Reader’s Digest.

“He’s my first dog in my life,” said Markle, “I didn’t grow up with dogs.

“I was in LA and I went to rescue that dog.

“So I saw him and I was sitting there with him, and then Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi came in.

I don’t know her, but Elaine says, “Is that your dog? And I said, “No,” and she said, “You gotta get that dog.”

“So I brought him home. Because Elaine told me.

“I began to see that he loves the company of people, but just as much as I love the company of dogs, I don’t want to be with dogs only all day, so I realized that I can love a companion.”
