The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has announced a list of 35 players led by star Lionel Messi to face Italy in a game that will put the reigning champions of the Americas and Europe face to face in June.
The “Finalíssima”, as the intercontinental match that CONMEBOL and UEFA agreed to organize is called, will be played on June 1 at Wembley Stadium, in England, in front of 86,000 sold-out fans.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Messi leads coach Lionel Scaloni’s call-up for Argentina’s first game after the end of the South American qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup in 2022, in which the Argentine national team finished second behind from Brazil.
Among those called up is defender Marcos Senesi, from Feyenoordm after the Italian press indicated a possible call-up of the Argentine player by Italy coach Roberto Mancini.
“Next weekend the definitive list will be published,” the Argentine Football Association said on its official Twitter account.
