Milan Fashion Week: 4 exhibitions to see between two shows

The subversive eye of Guy Bourdinthe underside ofAsteroid City of Wes Andersonthe wax mannequins of David Cronenberg…Visiting Milan during Fashion Week? Here are the 4 essential exhibitions in one of the four fashion capitals to discover between two shows this week.

Guy Bourdin: Storyteller

Sensual, provocative, iconoclastic, avant-garde… His style has forever left its mark on fashion photography. Guy Bourdin is today in the honor ofArmani/Silos the time of an exhibition which avoids a simple retrospective, but promises to show a new side of the photographer: that of the narrator and storyteller. “In a single shot, he is capable of condensing entire novels, generally detective or noir” supports the Milanese cultural center. Far from wanting to shock at all costs, Bourdin’s approach aimed rather to encourage spectators to immerse themselves in the images while questioning themselves. An artistic vision influenced in particular by the work of the filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and the artist Edward Hopperwhom he greatly admired.

Wes Anderson – Asteroid City

After London, the exhibition Wes Anderson – Asteroid City settles down in Milan, within the Prada Foundation, where you can view a rich selection of original sets, props, miniatures, costumes and works of art featured in the film. An immersive stroll through the offbeat universe of this fictional town in the American desert, which hosts the Junior Stargazer convention, a swarm of students and parents coming from all over the country to compete in scholarly competitions.

David Cronenberg

Disturbing apparition… That of wax women staged by David Cronenberg in a striking short film presented at the Prada Foundation this week. On the screen, four wax mannequins from the famous collection of the Florentine museum La Specola take turns to reveal to us the living dimension of ceramics, known until now for their static and severe nature. An organic film that echoes the recurring themes of the creative vision of Cronenberglike his fascination with the human body and its potential mutations.
