The 60th edition of the Milan Furniture Fair begins tomorrow, Tuesday 7 June, at Rho Fiera. Divided into all twenty pavilions of the exhibition center, covering an area of 200 thousand square meters, the event will see the participation of two thousand exhibitors, 25% foreign.
Many events scheduled for this year’s edition, such as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and Workplace3.0, the biennial, EuroCucina, with the collateral event FTK: Technology For the Kitchen and the International Bathroom Exhibition. S.Project is also back, a space transversal to the different areas of the project that made its debut with great success in 2019. There will also be the SaloneSatellite with its 600 talents under 35.
Central themes of the 2022 edition are sustainability and ecological transition. In this regard, among the guests there is the architect Mario Cucinella, promoter of ethical and virtuous paths of design, who will carry out the preparation of pavilion 15 of S.Project with the theme of Design with Nature. The installation aims to represent, through 1,400 square meters of space, what the future of living will be like. Sustainability will also be at the basis of the work of companies and creatives who will participate in the Show who have been asked to think of products, fittings and equipment that use recycled, reusable and low environmental impact materials.

The event will also be accompanied by a Talk program, which the Salone del Mobile.Milano and the SaloneSatellite will stage from 7 to 12 June in their respective arenas and online, in streaming. Among these, in pavilion 15, Maria Cristina Didero, curatorial director of Design Miami / 2022, consultant and author, will moderate the speeches by Victoria Siddall, Non-Executive Director of Frieze, President and Trustee of Studio Voltaire, Co-Founder and Trustee of the Gallery Climate Coalition, Daan Roosegaarde, creative thinker, artist, innovator and designer, Eva Feldkamp, Founder and Director of All in Awe, a social enterprise that connects architects and designers with non-profit associations, for the talk “Sustainability: three different episodes” . Beatrice Leanza, curator who has directed international institutions such as the Lisbon Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology and the Beijing Design Week in Beijing, will talk about “Radical Nature: The Design and Science of Worldbuilding” together with the designers and thinkers Marjan van Aubel, solar designer, Anab Jain, critical designer and co-founder of the Superflux studio, and Liam Young, exponent of speculative architecture and director. Another contribution to the different reflections comes from “GREEN GRADS. A special British initiative to promote new talents and care for the Planet “. Produced by the editor of Design Exchange magazine, David Morris, for the exclusive preview at SaloneSatellite, the 25-minute documentary narrates the results of the project of the same name conceived and directed by the promoter and design critic Barbara Chandler and co-directed by Michael Czerwinski for explore the “green ideas” born within UK universities over the past two years. After the presentation on June 7, there will be one rerun per day.
Prices and tickets
To access the Salone del Mobile 2022, visitors can only buy tickets online after registering on the portal, which differentiates users between operators in the sector (architects, designers, buyers, interior decorators, exporters, etc.) and individuals. Industry operators will be able to visit the fair from 7 to 12 June from 9.30 to 18.30. The entrance ticket costs 30 euros, if purchased before 6 June, otherwise 35 euros. Operators can choose to visit the fair even over several days with cumulative tickets of 3 and 6 days with prices ranging from 55 to 80 euros. On the other hand, the public is admitted to the Salone del Mobile.Milano only on 11 and 12 June, from 9.30 to 18.30, upon purchase of the admission ticket in advance for 30 euros or full price for 35 euros per day.
