Stefano Pioli is reportedly planning a number of changes to his Milan team for the Champions League clash against Newcastle United, following a humiliating 5-1 derby defeat to Inter.

Their opening European encounter takes place at San Siro on Tuesday evening, when Sandro Tonali returns to an opponent for the first time on Tyneside following an €80million summer move.

Pioli had so far been reluctant to make any adjustments to his line-up, but he was forced to make changes to his defense against Inter when Fikayo Tomori was suspended and Pierre Kalulu was injured.

Tomori is available again and is expected to start against Newcastle, although Sky Sport Italia also suggests further adjustments from the manager.

Samuel Chukwueze was recruited from Villarreal for 28 million euros including bonuses and could make his debut in a Milan jersey, thus sending Christian Pulisic to the bench.

There could also be changes in the midfield, as one of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rade Krunic and Tijani Rejenders could be rested after playing intermittently so far this season.

Krunic is the favorite to replace Yunus Musah.

Matching (possible): Megann; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Musah, Rijnders; Chukwueze, Giroud, Raphael Leao
