Some of the most important centers of entertainment and music production in Europe, gathered following an agreement that starts from the capital of our country: Fondazione Musica per Roma has signed a partnership program with Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, Il Kursaal in San Sebastian, The Rocher de Palmer in Bordeaux and the Centro Cultural De Belem in Lisbon, institutions which, like the Auditorium Parco della Musica, are characterized not only by a transversal programming but also by the architectural peculiarities of the spaces.
The headquarters of the various centers, in fact, are located in structures of great value, built between the end of the twentieth century and the twenty-first century, from the splendid theater of Palacio Euskalduna, inaugurated in 1999 on a project by the architects Federico Soriano and Dolores Palaciosto the building of the CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém, designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti and from the Portuguese Manuel Salgadobetween 1988 and 1993. Right up to the Auditorium Parco della Musica, a multifunctional complex located in the Olympic Village in Rome, designed by Renzo Piano.
The focus of the chord, to the rhythm of the music
The agreement is based on three fundamental points: exchange of original productions, promotion of activities in the respective national territories, reciprocal hospitality and professional internships to foster partnership and to increase mutual know-how. In short, a common and extended development strategy at an international level, to the rhythm of music and in the sign of live participation, obviously, given that the fulcrum of the collaborations will be centered on shows, from production and organization to distribution and enjoyment.
These partnerships are part of a wider internationalization project of the Foundation. On the one hand, discussions are at an advanced stage to enter into similar agreements with the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tel Aviv Cultural Center, the Musikkenshus in Aalborg, the Musikkitalo in Helsinki, the Gasteig Kultur in Munich and the Southbank Center in London. On the other hand, the Foundation adhered to the proposal to promote a large Center for Innovation and Knowledge in the Cultural and Creative Industries sector (KIC ICC), responding to a funding call from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, applying, in collaboration with over 40 European cultural institutions, to create the largest continental ecosystem to develop innovative products and services in cultural industries.
Summer 2022 at the Parco della Musica in Rome
Finally, collaboration with the foreign embassies and cultural institutes present in Rome is resuming, and already on the occasion of “Equilibria – Festival of contemporary dance” has resulted in some collaborations, allowing the bringing to Rome of three lions of Gold of dance, like Maguy Marin, Alessandro Sciarroni, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, in addition to the Ubu award Dimitris Papaioannouwaiting for the next projects already scheduled for 2022.
From the summer season, the international level programming will resume, with the co-production of “Relative Calm”, the new show by Bob Wilson and Lucinda Childs, which will make its world premiere at the Auditorium in mid-June. And then, the summer concerts already scheduled, among others, by Paolo Conte, Moderat, Pixies, Massive Attack, Herbie Hancock, Ben Harper, Simple Minds, The Smile, James Taylor, Louis Tomlinson, Paul Weller, Gregory Porter, Patti Smith, Paolo Nutini.
