Lionsgate+ recommends reviewing some of the platform’s top series already available, Emmy and Oscar nominated, Golden Globes winners, costume, drama or comedy.

TV SERIES

The series Normal People follows Connell and Marianne from school to college as they drift in and out of each other’s lives, exploring just how complicated young love can be. Paul Mescal has been nominated for an Emmy (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie) for his role as Connell and just earned his first Academy Award nomination (Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor) for his role in Aftersun.

In the first season of RamyRamy Hassan is a first-generation Egyptian-American who is embarking on a spiritual journey in his politically divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy brings to the screen a new perspective as it explores living caught between a Muslim community who thinks life is a series of moral tests, and the millennial generation who thinks life has no consequences.

In Season 2, Ramy talks about his midlife crisis, past relationships, and addiction to pornography. Ramy Youssef won the 2020 Golden Globe (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy) for his performance in the lead role.

The Act follows Gypsy Blanchard (Joey King), a young girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother, Dee Dee (Patricia Arquette). Her quest for independence opens up a Pandora’s box, eventually leading her to commit murder. Patricia Arquette won a Golden Globe (Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television) and an Emmy (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie) for her role in the series.

The Great is a satirical and comedic drama – loosely based on historical facts – about the rise of Catherine the Great, who went from a foreigner to the longest-serving female governess in Russian history. The series was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of “Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy” for both seasons, and the two stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult were nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys in their respective acting categories.

MOVIE

In present-day Budapest, a group of ninjas kills what they believe to be the last samurai. However, they discover that one descendant of the Ronin warriors still remains: Luna, a young girl from New York. 47 ronin is available from February 1, 2023.

In Blade Runner 2049 An LAPD officer uncovers a long-buried secret that could plunge what’s left of society into chaos. The discovery of him pushes him towards the search for Rick Deckard, who disappeared into thin air 30 years earlier. Available from February 1, 2023.

T2 Trainspotting tells of Mark Renton, a man who returns to Edinburgh after 20 years of running away and reunites with old friends Sick Boy and Spud. Meanwhile Franco has escaped from prison and seeks revenge against the friend who betrayed him. Available from February 1, 2023.
