new Russian strikes in Zaporizhia

Two people were killed and seven injured in a new Russian strike on the city of Zaporizhia, in southern Ukraine. Local authorities say Moscow deliberately targeted a residential area.

A few tens of kilometers away, the Energodar nuclear power plant again lost connection to its last external power line. The Ukrainian operator Energoatom specified that the contact is now ensured by a reserve link.

This region close to the front has been particularly targeted by Russian fire for several weeks.

“I was cooking. And for a second, I thought I might go to the other room. I just walked out into the hallway, and the explosion sounded. At that moment, the husband and the child were outside. If I had been in the kitchen, I think I would have been injured” testifies a resident of Zaporijjia affected by the bombardments.

This Wednesday, Germany has confirmed the delivery of two additional Patriot air defense missile systems in Kyiv, as well as about 30 refurbished second-hand Leopard tanks.

Volodymyr Zelensky recalled in his daily address: “Today there is good news from Germany – exactly what we agreed with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Additional ‘Patriot’ facilities are available. Thank you very much Olaf, this is necessary to protect our people from Russian terror. Thanks to Germany, to the chancellor personally, for sticking to this agreement – it will certainly save thousands of our people’s lives. It will certainly bring us closer to creating a full fledged air shield for Ukraine . It will help people, cities, villages.”

Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine Denise Brown visited Pokrovsk, in the east of the country, to meet the victims of the recent bombardment. 9 people lost their lives, and 82 others were injured.
