Kieran Trippier joined Atletico Madrid in 2019. This season, he has played 12 out of 15 games in La Liga and three out of five in the Champions League. Currently, the footballer is facing a break due to a shoulder injury. The absence may be for a few more weeks, during which time Marcos Llorente is given the chance to play.

The Spanish “Marca” writes that Llorente is closer to the first squad than Trippier. Therefore, Atletico Madrid could allow the Englishman to leave in the winter transfer window. Newcastle United could benefit from an experienced defender, according to the newspaper. “He will add experience and leadership to the squad. He is seen as a lovable figure in the dressing room, and his soccer skills were internationally visible for England during the last European Championship and World Cup qualifiers,” the article reads.

Trippier has played 88 games for Atletico Madrid, and has recorded 11 assists. The defender knows English pitches well, because in the past he played, among others for Manchester City’s youth teams, then for FC Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur. The player’s current contract expires at the end of June 2023. Newcastle United is on the penultimate place in the table. He has 10 points on his account, three less than the team that is relegated in the Premier League.
