Weather: Next week, a cyclonic vortex threatens Italy, heavy rains expected in many regions
Weather forecast for next weekItaly is about to be threatened by a cyclonic vortex (Mediterranean cyclone) which is likely to impact our country at the start of the next week and he might have also important effects on many of our regions.
Eyes on, in particular, from Monday 10 October when a powerful depression pushed by air masses of polar-maritime origin will cause a drastic change in weather conditions. Be careful because the cold currents coming in from the Rhone door will feed a Mediterranean cyclone able to trigger intense precipitation, even in the form of storms and violent gusts of wind.
The vortex will then actually come stuck from the high pressure both to the east and to the north, thus remaining substantially trapped, stationary and active for some time on the same areas.
The biggest danger with this type of configuration concerns the stationarity of storm phenomena that could insist many hours, or even days, on the same areas, causing in the most extreme cases of flash floods.
Furthermore, due to the counterclockwise movement of the currents, the vortex will draw very hot air to it from the southern quadrants which, after crossing the sea and loaded with moisture, will provide a surplus of fuel (potential energy) for extreme weather events. Therefore, very abundant precipitations, in some cases of a stormy nature, cannot be excluded, first on the two Major Islands, then to follow towards all the Tyrrhenian regions. Attention because locally they could also fall up to over 100/200 l / m2 of rain in a very short time, or the equivalent of the expected rainfall throughout the month.
The deterioration will then invest, from Tuesday 11also the North East where, in addition to heavy rains and thunderstorms, the phenomenon of high water in the Venice lagoon could also return due to the intense Scirocco winds.
In addition to a heavy wave of bad weather, we also expect a drastic decline in temperatures which will drop below the reference climatic averages, especially in the Center-North. This will favor the return of the snow on our mountains, in particular on the Dolomiteswith flakes starting from 1800/2000 meters of altitude.
