Tite revealed high expectations for winning this year’s World Cup title
The Brazilian team is one of the great favorites to win the World Cup title in 2022, but coach Tite sees that there is something beyond the eyes of some regarding the canary team. For the coach, the Seleção is the most envied team in the world and he also stated that it carries the legacy of great stars who built history with the green and yellow jersey.
“A lot of people are jealous of Brazil. They won’t admit it. Maybe it’s the most envied team in the world. This is the legacy I carry, the legacy we carry, the history of having Pelé, Zagallo, Tostão, Garrincha. If Zagallo is criticized, How can I not be? Is Brazil the most envied? I think so, but when I go out everyone asks me how I can handle the pressure of being the coach of the Brazilian national team”, he said in an interview with the English newspaper The Guardian.
In addition to highlighting the legacy and pressure to lead the Selection. Tite also stated that he is looking forward to winning the title in Qatar. “How am I? I’m looking forward to it, but focused. We’ve reached the World Cup. Now it’s time to reach the final and be champions. That’s the truth. In the last World Cup, I coached under other circumstances.” [Dunga foi demitido em 2016 e Tite assumiu]. Now, I had the opportunity to do the full four-year cycle. Expectations are high, but the focus is on work.”
During the interview, the coach was asked about the rise of Vinicius Junior and Neymar’s situation in the national team, and Tite defended that Neymar remains the main player of the team. “Neymar is Neymar. He remains our biggest star. The difference now is that the glow is diluted by nearby stars that can also shine. The greatness of Neymar is that he understands that – about the growth of these young people. He encourages the boys to level up. Time and experience provide that maturity”, he declared.
