At the age of 30, the Brazilian star Neymar Jr., from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is not in the best phase of his career and there are talks that he can be sold or transferred by the French club.

A proof that the striker of the Brazilian team is no longer one of the main players in Europe is his absence among the 100 most valued athletes in European football, according to a ranking released last Monday (6/6) by the Swiss website CIES Football Observatory.

Thanks to his three-year contract renewal with PSG, French star Kylian Mbappé leads the ranking, valued at around 206 million euros (about R$1.07 billion). He surpasses the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior (185 million euros or R$ 967 million), from Real Madrid, who recently became champion of the Champions League (Champions League). In third is the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, from Manchester City, valued at 153 million euros (about R$ 800 million).

In addition to Vinícius Júnior, 10 other Brazilians are part of the most expensive athletes in European football: Éder Militão (Real Madrid), Rodrygo Goes (Real Madrid), Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Ederson Moraes (Manchester City), Marquinhos Aoás (Paris Saint -Germain), Lucas Paquetá (Olympique Lyonnais), Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City), Carlos Casemiro (Real Madrid), Richarlison de Andrade (Everton) and Antony Santos (Ajax).

Premier League clubs dominate the CIES Football Observatory rankings with 41 players in the top 100.
