The model is a new bet by the German manufacturer e.Go Mobile and will hit the market in late 2022
Last Friday, the 6th, PSG and Brazil forward Neymar Jr. was in Berlin for the event that showed the world the e.wave X, a new subcompact electric hatch from German sturtup e.Go. The athlete is an ambassador for the German manufacturer and removed the cloth that covered the car in the presentation of the model.
With 240 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle, the e.wave X has an engine with 109 hp (80 kW) and is aimed at urban mobility, that is, short journeys between people’s homes and work. It accommodates four passengers and has rear-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and three driving modes: ECO, Comfort and Sport. With a length of 3.35 m and a wheelbase of 2.20 m, it is slightly smaller than a Fiat 500e.
Other car features include: hill assist, rain sensor, ambient light sensor, integrated roof rack and AVAS (Vehicle Acoustic Alert System) functionality, which emits a sound to alert pedestrians if necessary. The 23-inch screen in the cockpit allows for wireless phone charging and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Scheduled to hit the German market in the fourth quarter, the compact has a suggested price of €24,990 (about R$135,000), €1,500 cheaper than the Volkswagen e-Up, one of its direct competitors. The automaker’s plan is to manufacture 30,000 units a year, with production taking place in Greece.
A version limited to 31 units, called e.wave NJR, was also announced by the brand, which promises to donate the proceeds from the sale of 30 of these special copies to build a sustainable water project in Brazil.
Founded in 2015, e.Go Mobile even filed for bankruptcy in 2020, but rose again after receiving investments and signing the agreement to produce its cars in Greece. So far, the automaker has launched just one car, the e.Go Life, also a compact model for urban commutes.
