NFT: Celebrity teddy bears. UOKiK is taking the matter under a microscope

They appeared on the profiles of celebrities in social media digital NFT graphics with teddy bearswhich are a reflection of famous characters.

The action is being watched by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. “We are looking at teddy bears and their online promotion as part of the activities already carried out against influencers. We are in the course of both proceedings, in which we investigate both the scam and the way of labeling messages in social media” – Małgorzata Cieloch, spokesman for the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) admitted in an interview with .

On January 6, the Office appealed on Twitter to report every influencer who advertises scam to him. Scam it is a form of deception that is carried out after trust has been established. Then the recipients are misled by, inter alia, hiding important information about the product or highlighting some of its features in order to influence the user.

“I have started an investigation to determine the involvement of influencers in promoting the scam. We will check whether the creators verify the offers of commercial cooperation and how they behave when irregularities are detected, including whether they withdraw from advertising the product or offer repair to their followers” – he informed in President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Tomasz Chróstny, issued in the announcement. He stressed that one cannot decide on questionable cooperation for financial reasons.
