Sebastian Świderski and Nikola Grbić.
All volleyball fans in our country were waiting for this news! Nikola Grbić became the new manager of the Polish national volleyball team, thus replacing Vital Heynen in this role.
It has been said for a long time that Grbić is the favorite of the Polish volleyball authorities. Sebastian Świderski, the president of PZPS, did not hide it. As it turned out, the favorite actually became the new coach of the Polish team, which was officially confirmed on Wednesday. The manager’s contract is valid until the end of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Grbić thus replaced Heynen, who left the team after three years of work. The legendary Serb is currently the coach of Sir Safety Perugia, where he replaced … Heynen. In the past, the 48-year-old led the Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle team to triumph in the volleyball Champions League, among others.
Serb was an excellent volleyball player, playing as a quarterback. He played for many Italian clubs and ended his career in the Russian Zenit Kazan. As a representative of Serbia, he won, among other things, the Olympic gold in 2000.
