It’s not really surprising that an actor refuses a film project. There are many reasons, both desire and availability. It’s no surprise that Hollywood stars are already working on another filmbut this time, whatever the reasons, it’s a regiment of stars who refused these roles.
The Secret of Brokeback Mountain had a lot of trouble finding its actors!
It’s in an interview with Variety that Gus Van Sant explained why he abandoned the film project on Brokeback mountain.
In this interview, the director explains how he saw many actors refuse to work with him.
“No one wanted to do it. I was working on it and I felt like we needed a really big cast, with famous actors. However, nothing happened. I asked the usual stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ryan Phillippe. They all said they refused to work on the film.”
Actors who were top billing at the time and who were mostly busy. While Leonardo DiCaprio worked on “Stop me so little” And Brad Pitt on “Ocean’s Eleven“, mass refusals from Hollywood favorites pushed Van Sant to abandon the project, which he explains full of regret.
A film that worked very well without a huge star
As Van Sant explains, perhaps he should have continued, but seen things differently.
“What I could have done, and what I probably should have done, is cast more unknowns, without worrying about the main actors. I wasn’t ready. I’m not sure why. He There was some kind of hiccup on my end. There was something wrong with me, I guess, whatever it was.”
The film was finally made Ang Lee, and with a small budget of a few million dollars, managed to become one of the most notable films of that year, collecting no less than three Oscars.
