When we think of shows with great visual productions, stage structure and fan appeal, it’s hard not to think of divas and artists from the Pop world, isn’t it?

It turns out that, according to Pollstar, these tours aren’t among the top-selling tours of the past 40 years.

The company, which aggregates revenue figures from shows around the world, completed four decades this week and, to mark the date, released a report compiling data from shows in that period.

As we show you here, the U2 is the band that sold the most tickets in the last 40 years, with more than 26 million tickets sold.

The surprise is that the Top 10 does not have any pop artists. You have to go down to position number 15 to find Rod Stewarta singer who goes from Rock to Blues, also passing through Pop music, with 13 million tickets sold.

Ed Sheeranwhich started in folk music and is currently more pop-oriented, is at number 20 with nearly 12 million.

If we are to consider undeniably Pop artists, who have based their career on this style, the first in the ranking is Madonnaonly in 21st position, with 11.6 million tickets sold.

It is worth mentioning that, among Pop artists in their 30s, the first appearance is by Taylor Swift in 31st position, with 9.5 million. Beyoncewho is 40 years old, appears in 32nd place with 9.3 million.
