Danni Sanders is an aspiring writer who works as a photo editor for Depravity, an online magazine in New York City. Struggling with her job and making friends, Danni (Zoey Deutch) lies about attending an upcoming retreat in Paris to impress her colleague Colin, a social media influencer.
Danni spends the next week posting edited photos of herself in Paris from her Brooklyn apartment. As a result, she gains a modest following on Instagram including Colin as well.
A few days later, Danni posts an edited photo of himself from the Arc de Triomphe just minutes before several major Parisian monuments, including the Arc, are bombed by terrorists.
To back up her lie, Danni claims she witnessed the bombing.
