Let us try to look a little lucidly at what has happened in recent years.
In 2016, Donald Trump’s campaign brought out the notion of “post-truth”. One can discuss its scientific validity, but it names a phenomenon observable by all: up to the highest summit of the State, it is now possible to say anything because there are “alternative truths”, which are as valid as those verified by facts. From then on, the political debate no longer consists in opposing desires and different interpretations from a common base, but in denying the very existence of this base. It is not visions of the world that are in dispute, but worlds, sometimes even within a single country, as we have seen in the United States.
