Obi-Wan Kenobi: When R2-D2 and C-3PO appear

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after the dramatic events of the film Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, in which Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat, the fall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker. At the beginning of the series we find Obi-Wan in exile on Tatooine as he watches over young Luke, but we soon discover that the story restarts from another important event: the kidnapping of little Leia stolen from his father Bail Organa on Alderaan. The first episode of the series, thus, focuses a lot on the life of the very young princess and on the events that take place at court. Protocol droid C-3PO appears in the background during an Organa party, al minute 35:12 of the first episode. We see it perform its main function of protocol droid that is, translating a conversation between two interlocutors who speak a different language. R2-D2, on the other hand, appears at 38:45 on the right side of the screen, during a conversation between Bail and Breha Organa.

Because their cameo is in line with the Star Wars canon

The appearances of R2-D2 and C-3PO in Obi-Wan Kenobi they fit perfectly within the canon of Star Wars. At the end of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sithin fact, ownership of the droids is transferred to Bail Organa. C-3PO and R2-D2 work for the Alderaan senator for the following years, and for that very reason they will find themselves aboard Leia’s ship at the start of A new hope. Their appearances in the series so far have been fleeting and only in the background, but it is not certain that in the next few episodes they will not return to the screen again with more decisive roles.
