To paraphrase the classic: The rumor of Huawei’s death was greatly exaggerated. While the US trade blockade was a heavy blow, the company is still operational and is ready to make its proprietary operating system available on a global scale.
Huawei is still on the US government’s “black list”
Although nearly three years have passed since the introduction of the trade blockade, the company is still struggling with the consequences of this decision. The most severe was the cut off from Google services. Huawei, however, met the restrictions by creating its own environment, HarmonyOS (in China it is distributed as HongMengOS).
At the moment, the proprietary solution is used by over 140 brand devices, incl. smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and televisions. The system is not, however, not widely available outside of China, but that may change soon.
In an interview with the Romanian daily Adevărul, Derek Yu, president of Huawei CB for Central and Eastern Europe, Northern Canada and Turkey, announced that the company could make HarmonyOS available to all users around the world next year.
It would be consistent with the premiere of the latest version of the system, numbered 3.0, the first beta tests of which should start in the first quarter of 2022. At the moment, however, it is not known whether they will be available to users outside of China.
Derek Yu was also asked about the model line of Huawei smartphones, because in 2021 both the series P50, what Mate 50. “The Mate series is on the way and will be released in 2022” Derek Yu announced.
People who are interested in the new, foldable smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer can also sleep well. Although Mate X2 did not hit the European market, what was officially confirmed by the Huawei representative – “the brand’s newest foldable smartphone” will make its debut at MWC 2022.
The situation around Huawei is also heated by the latest, already unofficial reports. The artwork you see above was sent by one of the informants associated with the Chinese producer. In the middle you can see something that resembles a folded smartphone, and the entry itself mentions that this month we will find out something more.
Another indication is the presentation of a patent graphic for cooling a folding device. Although the report was sent in 2020 and it is not certain whether the flexible heat pipes visible in the graphics will actually be used in the model Mate V, this is the point at which the article appeared, may suggest that something is up.
For December 23, 2021, Huawei has planned an event during which it will show new TVs, laptops and a smart band Fit Mini. It is possible, therefore, that we are only a few days away from the debut of the competition for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
