Episodes of racism that shouldn’t hit the football pitches in the slightest, yet we are still forced to see them. Even on the first day of the championship of the new Serie A season, an episode of this kind had to be witnessed, precisely in the match between the Verona and the Naples. A very heated match, which ended with a daring 5-2 for the blue team. The spirits turned on from the beginning of the match, due to the rivalry that exists between the supporters of the two clubs. We went far beyond simple teasing, with references to the eruption of Vesuvius and with the “Buu” in the direction of Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian also became the protagonist of a controversial exultation towards the opposing fans with punches in the eyes simulating a cry.
The fine in Verona
The Sports Judge, today morning, expressed himself with the various verdicts regarding the penalties of the first day. Among these is also the fine of 12 thousand euros to Verona for local choirs. This is the official motivation published on the Serie A website:
Fine of 12,000.00: to the Soc. HELLAS VERONA for having its supporters, during the race, repeatedly sung choruses of territorial origin towards the supporters of the opposing team.
