Despite never defending the belt, Pantoja seems interested in transforming into a double champion. Additionally, the two have a minor rivalry even though they have never officially fought.
According to the Brazilian himself, Pantoja defeated O’Malley in a sparring match in 2017 when Alexandre went to help Henry Cejudo prepare for the fight.
