After the defeat of Legia Warszawa with Górnik Zabrze (2: 3), which is already the seventh defeat of the Polish champion in a row in the league, the portal WP SportoweFakty wrote that Legia had already reached an agreement with the coach of Raków Częstochowa, Marek Papszun, that he would take over the team from capital city.
It would undoubtedly be a transfer hit in the league. It may be difficult to find him, however, because the Pope himself in an interview with Jakub Seweryn stated that he did not know anything about Legia’s interest. Certainly, the coach from the club will not be easily released by the owner, Michał Świerczewski, who has also reacted to media reports.
Jóźwiak comments on the Pope in Legia. “Then maybe this plan will work out”
There is also an open question whether the Pope himself will be interested in changing colors and whether he will manage in Warsaw. In an interview with “Super Express”, Marek Jóźwiak emphasizes that the pressure in Legia is different than in Raków. – Coach Papszun must realize that Legia is a milestone for him. However, many coaches ran at this club. This is a challenge with a different genre dimension. Is this a risk for him? I will answer this: if a person wants to develop, he must make decisions that push him forward, and not those that ensure a warm job and comfortable work – said Jóźwiak.
The Canal + Sport expert also pointed to an important condition that must be met in order for the Pope to succeed in Legia. The question is what autonomy the trainer will get. – The last decisions in Legia are wrong, and very badly. Both sides must be convinced of this project. If coach Papszun gets 80 percent in Legia. the power he has in Raków, then perhaps this plan will burn out. However, if the tug of war continues in the Warsaw club: president – director – coach – advisers, it will go in a different direction again – argues Jóźwiak.
The 2021/22 season is a real nightmare for Legia Warsaw. On Sunday, the Polish champions recorded their seventh lost game in a row in dramatic circumstances. Legia was losing away 0: 2, but in the second half they led to a draw in less than two minutes. However, she returned to Warsaw with nothing, because in the 96th minute Krzysztof Kubica gave Górnik three points. Legia is on the penultimate place in the table and has the same number of points as the last Górnik Łęczna.
Legia Warszawa recorded a series of seven consecutive losses for the first time since 1936. Then the team was relegated from the league for the only time in history. Next Sunday, Legia will try to stop this series in a match against Jagiellonia Białystok. Earlier, on Thursday, the Warsaw team will play another match in the Europa League. Leicester will be the rival.
