Patrizia Reggiani lived under the conviction that wealth and fame were written to her. Therefore, when she met Maurizio Gucci as a 22-year-old, she easily wrapped him around her finger. Maurizio, a shy law student, was delighted to see the most beautiful and hit-and-miss girl in the college looking for his favors.
They came from completely different backgrounds. This, however, was no obstacle for them. She is the daughter of a waitress and entrepreneur. He, in turn, is the grandson of the legendary designer Guccio Gucci, who founded the famous fashion house in 1921. Even though Reggiani came from a fairly wealthy family, she was not part of the Milanese elite.
Conflict with father
Maurizio really wanted to oppose his father – the famous actor Rodolfo Gucci. Therefore, he did not listen to him when he advised him against his relationship with Patrizia. The father was convinced that Patrizia was with his son for money and fame. Interestingly, after the couple married in 1972, Rodolfo disinherited his son. Patrizia, however, decided to win over her father-in-law at all costs. And finally, after many years of efforts, it achieved its goal. After the husband graduated from law school, the marriage came to an agreement with Rodolfo Gucci. From then on, Patrizia was free to use the family fortune.
A lavish life and a breakup
Living with Patrizia was not easy. At one point, the overbearing and imperious wife began to resemble Maurizio his father’s despot. In addition, the woman was famous for her love of lavish life and luxury. She was nicknamed Tutankhamen because she was always covered with gold jewelry. Apparently, she did not get into a car other than a limousine. “I’d rather cry in a Rolls-Roys rather than be happy on a bike,” she said.
In 1985, after 13 years of marriage, Maurizio traveled to Switzerland on a business trip. He did not come home, however, and sent a friend to his wife who informed her that their marriage was over. Patrizia was not able to come to terms with it for a long time. She did not consent to the divorce, so she was officially married to Maurizia for almost a decade. The marriage officially ended only in 1994. A year earlier, the media began reporting Maurizio’s affair with Paola Franchi – his childhood friend, who also had a failed marriage behind her.
Gucci agreed to pay his ex-wife $ 1.47 million annually. In return, the woman had to give up the right to use his name. Interestingly, however, she ignored this prohibition. – She still feels like Gucci – in fact, most like Gucci of all – she argued in interviews.
If Maurizio were to marry a new partner, the amount of maintenance would be significantly reduced. This situation haunted Patrizia. Therefore, when the cast curses did not bring results, together with the fairy Giuseppina, they hired a murderer – Benedetto Ceraulo, the indebted pizzeria owner.
On March 27, 1995, Maurizio Gucci was shot by an assassin in Milan. At first, no one suspected that his ex-wife was related to the crime. However, three years later, Patrizia was convicted of orchestrating the murder. She was close to getting away with it completely. Patrizia was betrayed by too much haste. The day after Maurizia’s murder, his partner received an eviction order. Experts showed that the document was written no later than three hours after the murder. Patrizia lived with her two daughters in her ex-husband’s apartment until her arrest in 1997.
“I didn’t want to miss”
The woman was sentenced to 29 years’ imprisonment. Ultimately, however, she left prison in 2016 after 18 years due to good behavior. Although she had never worked before, she became a fashion consultant at Bozart. Interestingly, despite the passage of time, the woman considers herself an heiress of the Gucci family. And I don’t really feel guilty about what happened years ago. One time, she was caught on a street in Milan by a TV crew. When asked why she hired a murderer to kill Maurizia, she replied:
I have bad eyesight, I didn’t want to miss.
Lady Gaga: I didn’t want to meet her
Lady Gaga plays the role of a scandalist in Ridley Scott’s “The House of Gucci”. The star revealed that the preparations for the role were extremely difficult for her. For six months she studied the accent Patrizia spoke. In addition, she felt psychological difficulties, she had a problem with distinguishing fiction from reality. Even though she was almost done with the set, she felt like she was still playing.
I spent 6 months learning her accent. But I didn’t want to meet her. In my opinion, this woman wanted to be glorified for this murder and she wanted to be remembered as a criminal. I didn’t want to support something I didn’t believe in. She ordered the murder of her husband
– the artist revealed. In turn, 72-year-old Reggiani in an interview with the Italian news agency Ansa confessed that Gaga’s attitude upset her greatly.
I am irritated by the fact that Lady Gaga, who plays me in Ridley Scott’s new film, doesn’t even have the sense of tact or sense to come and meet me. It has nothing to do with the money as I won’t charge a cent for this movie. It’s about common sense and respect. I believe that any good actor should first get to know the person they are going to play. I don’t think it’s fair that I haven’t been contacted. And I say this with all the sympathy and admiration I have for her
