The trailer
Misunderstandings, unspoken, old grudges and never extinguished feelings are at the center of this costume film, which takes the classic opera, giving it a light and narratively different look. Anne constantly talks to the public, looking into the room, to ironically tell what happens to her, as well as the defects and backstory of who is with her on stage – mostly her family – becoming at the same time the protagonist and narrator of the story. Anne is the center of the film adaptation of director Carrie Cracknell and Dakota Johnson is good at giving her a sensual, witty, but also funny profile.
“Persuasion” is a romantic and optimistic film, which will appeal mostly to lovers of the genre (perhaps less to those Jane Austen), suitable for a vision of pure relaxation.
