Polish coronavirus vaccine this year! When to take the next doses?

At the beginning of October, the Polish biotechnology company Mabion announced that it had concluded a contract worth PLN 1.46 billion with Novavax for the production of a vaccine against Covid-19. Serial production of the vaccine in Poland is to start in December 2021. The contract was financially supported by the Polish Development Fund.

The European Medicines Agency has already accepted the final application of the Novavax concern regarding the vaccine produced by the Polish company Mabion. It is a more traditional vaccine, but innovative nonetheless. Subunit, that is, from these older types of vaccines. Very effective, over 90% effective. It has a substance that accelerates our immune reaction. We expect approval of this vaccine in mid-December. It is purchased by Poland, contracted. For now, it will be used for basic vaccination. We have some skeptics in Poland about these new mRNA or vector vaccines, and this is a traditional vaccine. This vaccine is definitely dedicated to the unconvinced.

Vaccines will stay forever?

Grzegorz Cessak, when asked whether after the third dose of the vaccine, recommendations for further booster doses should be expected, states that Coronavirus vaccines will stay with us for a long time.

It can be expected that the vaccine will stay with us, as will the flu vaccine. Doses every six months or every eight months will show the test results. Recent CDC research shows that unvaccinated people are 14 times more likely to die and six times more likely to be hospitalized. Research is done in different places around the world and specific values differ from region to region. The effectiveness after two doses is 86-91%, the third dose raises the effectiveness values to 95-96%

Can vaccinated people become infected?

When asked about research on the possibility of infection by the vaccinated, Grzegorz Cessak points out that the vaccine greatly alleviates the symptoms of the disease and reduces the worst of the disease.

For some people who received the vaccine, the virus will be neutralized within a dozen or so hours and the virus will not have enough time to multiply so that we become infected. This happens in 36-53% of people. The second part will be only slightly ill, so the vaccine will also protect them. In the highest risk groups, the vaccine also reduces the worst condition in most cases. “
