On Monday, there were difficulties in balancing the national power system. The reason is the low wind generation, as well as emergency and repair shutdowns of several generating units – Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, the operator of the transmission system in Poland, informed in a press release.
“The balance shortage relates to the inability to meet the required level of power reserves” – it was written in the release.
It added that “the scale of the shortage of power reserves is significant and exceeds 1000 MW in some hours”.

Shortage of power reserves
“The risk of further deterioration of the balance due to the large number of generating units launched after the weekend shutdown is also important. Therefore, when planning the operation of the system on December 6, 2021, PSE took the necessary remedial measures, including the use of inter-operator emergency assistance from neighboring systems. PSE’s request was provided by system operators from Lithuania, Sweden, Germany and Ukraine “- added PSE.
They also emphasized that “thanks to this, it is possible to balance the system and meet the required levels of power reserves”.
The system will also be tight on Tuesday
“On December 7, 2021, the balance of the national energy system will also be tight. PSE is analyzing the balance situation on an ongoing basis and will take the necessary measures to ensure the operational safety of the national power system” – it was written in the release.
