Premier League: A convincing victory for Southampton! Jan Bednarek with another goal

The Premier League returned to the game on Tuesday night. Southampton was taken by Brentford and was the favorite in the match against the newcomer, even though this season Jan Bednarek’s team is not coping with the teams that made it into the English elite. The starting eleven could not be missed by the Polish defender, who has recently shown quite a good side, especially under the opponents’ goal. For the Saints it was the first league game this year. A victory would allow the hosts to jump Bees in the table. After 19th rounds, the guests had two more points.

The match was great for Southampton. In the 5th minute of the game, the Saints made a corner kick, which Jan Bednarek, who was successful in the last matches, turned into a goal. The Polish national team managed to finish this play perfectly, hitting the ball with his head right in the middle of the goal. For the Pole, it was the third hit this season, the third in the last five matches. Impressive form.

What’s more, Jan Bednarek once again became the best Polish Premier League scorer in history.

The guests had a hard time shaking off. They gave up the initiative and practically did not pose a threat under the opponents ‘goal until 23 minutes, when Bryan Mbeumo showed a fantastic cross from the right side into the hosts’ penalty area. Unfortunately, the Polish defender did not manage to successfully cut the ball’s trajectory, which ultimately ended up at the feet of Vitali Janelt, who was volleyed by the goalkeeper of the Saints. Unexpectedly it turned 1: 1.

The Southampton players, however, continued to play their part. It was evident that the lost goal did not affect them too much, it did not knock them out of the shot. In the 37th minute the team led by Hasenhuttl used the corner again. Ibrahim Diallo had plenty of space and time, he tried on from outside the penalty area. The football broke the post and from the back of Alvaro Fernandez she fell into the goal.

After switching sides, the Saints quickly closed the meeting. Oriol Romeu sent a fantastic square pass to Armando Broi. The Albanian, completely unattended, ran towards the goal of Pszczół and increased the result of this competition. At this point, the emotions ended. Jan Bednarek’s team controlled this match, although they gave the initiative to the opponent. Brentford had longer possession of the ball in the second half, but not much of it.

To make matters worse, in the 70th minute they were already losing by the difference of three goals. The result of this competition was determined by Che Adams. The Scotsman took advantage of the visiting team’s defensive mistake, cut the ball next to the goalkeeper and enjoyed the goal. As for the Polish representative, he played a good game, but I must admit that he did not have too many opportunities to prove himself.

Southampton – Brentford 4: 1 (2: 1)

Goals: Jan Bednarek (5 ‘), Alvaro Fernandez (37’ – alone), Armando Broja (49 ‘), Che Adams (70’) – Vitaly Janelt (23 ‘)
