Qatar 2022 draw – The 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar, the first in history to be held in November and December. The group stage of the event has come to an end, after a long program that began on Sunday 20 November – the day of the inaugural match between Qatar and Ecuador – and concluded on Friday 2 December, when the Cameroon-Brazil and Serbia-Switzerland matches will be played.
Unlike the other club events we are used to, with the draws defining the pairings for the knockout phase, in the World Cup the draw is already defined at the time of the group stage draw. The winners of each group face the runners-up of the next group, according to a well-identified scheme.
In this way, the national teams already know who to look at as potential opponents in the knockout phase. For the same reason, there are teams who know they can only face each other in the final of the tournament and not before.
