The ultrasonic fingerprint reader is a solution that can be found in top Samsung smartphones. Qualcomm is constantly improving its product, resulting in a 3D Sonic Max sensor.

The company’s flagship smartphones Samsung are known, among other things, for the fact that you can find in them a sub-screen, ultrasonic fingerprint reader of the company Qualcomm. At the beginning, this solution caused a lot of problems for its users, but with time it got better and better. The newest is to be even better Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, that is, a scanner that can read information from a surface up to 600 mm2. This does not mean, however, that it will take up a lot of space in the tight interior of the smartphone, because its thickness is only 0.2 mm and can be used with flexible OLED displays.

The larger surface area translates into faster operation (only 0.2 s) and greater accuracy. Even when your finger is wet and the screen surface is dirty. You will also not have to focus on hitting the right place to unlock your smartphone. This place is going to be huge. Security will also increase, as the new Qualcomm ultrasonic reader will be able to scan two fingerprints at once. This will be useful, for example, to better secure banking applications, and parents will be able to set their children’s phones so that they can only be unlocked in their presence (child’s print + parent’s print).
