Forbes released the list of the highest paid players in the world this past Wednesday (11). According to the publication, Argentine star Lionel Messi, a PSG player, is the owner of first place, with around 130 million euros, at the current price of R$ 667.86 million in gross earnings in the last twelve months.
Despite the hefty sum, the player’s salary dropped by around 22 million, more or less, R$ 113.02 million compared to Barcelona’s last year. However, this loss was offset by an increase in sponsorships. In the football segment, Cristiano Ronaldo, from Manchester United, appears in third, with 115 million euros, around R$ 590.8 million. Together, Cr7 and Messi surpassed the barrier of 100 million in annual earnings, five times each.
Neymar appears in fourth place on the Forbes list, with revenues of 95 million, about R$ 486 million reais. It was 70 million in salary from PSG and another 25 million in advertising. According to the publication, totaling everything, the 10 highest paid athletes in the world in the last 12 months, a total of 992 million, the equivalent of more than R$ 5 billion.
