ramiz raja on ipl: IPL 2022 ramiz raja on indian economy: IPL 2022

new Delhi: The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ramiz Raja, has backed away from his statement on the Indian Premier League. He says that his point of view was distorted. Raja had said in an interview to ESPNcricinfo that after increasing the auction model and purse, Pakistan Super League can be placed in the category of IPL.

According to Cricinfo, Raja had said, ‘We have to build a new property to be financially independent. We only have funds from Pakistan Super League (PSL) and ICC. This model is being discussed from next year. I want to switch to auction model from next year. The market conditions are favorable for this but we will sit down with the franchisee and discuss it once.’

He had further said, ‘It is a game of money. When the economy of cricket increases in Pakistan, our respect will also increase. The biggest win is the growth of the financial economy of the Pakistan Super League. If we take Pakistan on the auction model, increase the purse, then I will put it in the IPL category. Then I will see who will prefer IPL over PSS.

Raja had made such a comment shortly before the start of the 15th season of IPL. At that time the BCCI is about to start the process of selling the rights to broadcast the IPL for the next five years. The board is expected to get a huge amount from this.

The king has recently denied this. He has said in an interview to Cricbuzz that his statement was distorted. Raja said that he knew the difference between the economy of India and Pakistan.

Raja said, ‘My statement was misrepresented. I know where is India’s economy and where is Pakistan’s. We have plans to improve the Pakistan Super League. We will come up with the auction model but my statement was presented in a different way.

The Pakistan Super League 2022 ended in February. Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans to win their maiden Pakistan Super League title. IPL 2022 has started from 26 March.
