Rapper was bad with a bet on the UFC and took ‘heavy’ in the Super Bowl

Canadian rapper Drake became a joke in Brazil, last weekend, for losing R$ 2.1 million when betting on Justin Gaethje’s victory against Charles Oliveira, aka Charles Do Bronx, at UFC 274 – the Brazilian fighter submitted the American with a rear naked choke in the first round of the fight.

This was not the first time that the musician ventured into the world of sports betting. However, for the second time, he lost a hefty amount betting on MMA. In March, Drake bet R$1.3 million on Jorge Masvidal’s victory against Colby Covington at UFC 272. Covington won the fight after five rounds via unanimous decision.

But it wasn’t just damage for Drake. In February, he put a huge amount at stake in the Super Bowl: 28 bitcoins (about R$ 6.4 million at the time). The rapper bet on the Los Angeles Rams winning the Cincinnati Bengals and that his friend Odell Beckham Jr would have great stats in the match.

The Rams won that game and made Drake return 46 bitcoins — he made a profit of R$3.9 million. Odell scored the touchdown that opened the scoring of the confrontation and guaranteed R$ 2.4 million for the singer.

The Canadian’s only setback that night was a knee injury to Beckham Jr. that took him out of the game. Drake bet the wide receiver would catch 62.5 yards, but he got injured and was left with just 52, and the rapper lost $2 million.

A fanatical fan of the Toronto Raptors in the NBA, Drake also made sure to share another high stakes in the sport of the orange ball. On his Instagram, he posted a photo showing that he bet 200 thousand Canadian dollars (R$ 786 thousand) on the Golden State Warriors as champions of the Western Conference.

If the rapper hits the prediction, he will have a return of one million Canadian dollars (R$ 3.9 million).

The Warriors are in the conference semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies, and they lead the series 3-2 — it’s one win away from Drake’s jackpot.
