Nvidia announced during their own event Portal with RTX: This is a remastered version of Valve’s puzzle game. It will be available at November 2022 and it will be free for all players who own the original.

The official description reads: “Remix RTX was used by NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios to reimagine Valve’s iconic Portal video game, considered one of the best video games of all time. Advanced graphics features such as full ray tracing and DLSS 3 give the game a stunning new look and feel. Portal with RTX will be released as free, official downloadable content for the classic platformer [sic] with RTX graphics in November, just in time for Portal’s 15th anniversary. ”

Through Nibel, a famous Twitter user, you can see a series of images coming from Nvidia’s presentation, showing Portal with RTX. The graphics are certainly superior to that of the original chapter and the ray tracing helps enormously to create atmosphere, especially in the darkest environments of the game.

Tell us, what do you think of this announcement? Are you interested in a modern, graphical version of the first Portal, or don’t you have hardware that supports ray tracing?
