revealed the roles that Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie will have in the Oscar campaign 2023

After anticipating the release of Babylon in North American theaters, Paramount clarified the roles that superstars Brad Pitt And Margot Robbie will cover in the promotional campaign for the Oscars 2023.

The choice to place Brad Pitt in the shortlist of ‘protagonists’ had never been in question, on the contrary on the role of Margot Robbie a real thriller had been created in recent weeks: from the few journalists they had had the opportunity to see Babylon last spring, in fact, her role had been universally defined as ‘central’ to the narrative, but The Hollywood Reporter had signaled that Paramount would have promoted her as ‘supporting’ (perhaps to place her in an apparently less combative competition ).

However the confusion increases, because World of Reel – quoting the email received in the newsroom from a person who saw Babylon – reports that Diego Calva is much more protagonist than Brad Pittbut Paramount has decided to offer it as a ‘supporting’: “Calva is more of a protagonist than Pitt’s character. I’m not sure how Paramount can conceivably get away with this decision once audiences see Babylon“.

The theory is that this year the roster of male protagonists promises to be weaker than usual, and Paramount with a name like Brad Pitt might be able to capitalize. In short, the 2023 Oscars are still far away but the power games are already starting behind the scenes.
