Journalists and fans from all over the world decided that the Pole suggested that Messi’s words were not sincere, and the Argentinian did not care that “Lewy” received the Golden Ball. Now our sniper explains his commentary in a special statement published by the German “Kicker”.

Lewandowski explains in it that he never wanted to imply that Messi’s words were not sincere. The Polish sniper claims that he only wanted to express the hope that the Argentine’s call to award him the Golden Ball will be heard. “Lewy” also added that he has great respect for Messi.

“My statement, which I made in an interview for a Polish TV station, is currently misinterpreted. I never wanted to express that Lionel Messi’s words were not sincere and were not serious. On the contrary, Lionel Messi’s speech at a party in Paris in which said that in his opinion I deserved the Golden Ball 2020, I was very moved and happy. With my statement I just wanted to express that, of course, I would be very happy if Messi’s words were heard. I respect and value Lionel Messi beyond measure and once again congratulate him on winning Golden Ball 2021 “- wrote Robert Lewandowski.
