“Pink 70s” is one of the most popular sitcoms of the last two decades. The series, thanks to which Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Topher Grace and Laura Prepon became famous, had 200 episodes and won the sympathy of fans around the world. On Friday, the American media gave joyful news to all fans of “That 70’s Show” – the creators of this series will prepare a new production, on request of Netflix, the action of which will be set in the 90s.
“Pink 90s”. What will the series tell about?
“Pink 90s” will begin in 1995. The main character, Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, will visit her grandparents in the summer and make new friends. The next generation of naughty teenagers from Point Place will be watched by Kitty’s (Debra Jo Rupp) watchful eyes amid the stern gaze of Red (Kurtwood Smith).
Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, who wrote “That 70’s Show” with Mark Brazill, are returning as creators – their daughter Lindsey Turner is also involved in the development of the new series. The family trio will serve as screenwriters and executive producers; They will also be supported by Gregg Mettler, who will take on the role of showrunner. Executive producers are also Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Marcy Carsey, and Tom Werner of The Carsey-Werner Company.
Why doesn’t the new series tell about the 1980s? It is safe to shoot, that the reason is not only the recent widespread nostalgia associated with the 90s, but also the fact that “Pink 80s” already exist. Nearly 20 years ago, on the wave of popularity of “Pink 70s”, some of the production team decided to follow the blow, but the project ended in failure. The first season met with negative reviews and low viewership, so Fox quickly gave up on this title. In the near future we will see if “Pink 90s” a similar fate will be avoided.
