A debate was held in the European Parliament on the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, where migrants, brought there by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, are camping.
Since the European Parliament refused Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki the opportunity to participate in the debate, the letter from him was read out by PiS MEP Ryszard Legutko. The letter mentioned that today Poland is resisting on its border a hybrid attack carried out jointly by Russia and Belarus.
Legutko: First of all, no concessions
– We need clear rules that will allow Europe to take the initiative and block further actions by Putin and Lukashenka. First of all: no concessions, things have gone too far. Russia and Belarus have already crossed all borders and no more can be allowed, said Legutko.
– Second: nothing about us without us. Any attempt to resolve a conflict must be based on an agreement. Any attempt to negotiate bypassing certain countries is a success for Vladimir Putin. Third: solidarity in the face of a common threat – said the PiS MEP.
The situation at the border
Last Monday, Polish services recorded 174 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border. With regard to 66 migrants, Border Guard officers issued decisions to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland.
– This year, the Border Guard detained almost 2.6 thousand. people trying to cross the border illegally. A year ago, it was 98 people. This is not a mistake – SG spokesman Anna Michalska informed during the Tuesday press conference.
