The Netherlands cricket team is on a tour of New Zealand (NZ vs NED) for the ODI and T20 series. The second match of the ODI series was played in Hamilton. New Zealand won this match by a huge margin of 118 runs. In the first match of the series, the Kiwis won by 7 wickets. With this, they have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. In this match, Kiwi captain Tom Latham played an unbeaten innings of 140 runs. At one point New Zealand had lost 5 wickets for 32 runs, but Latham took the team out with difficulty.
In his unbeaten innings of 123 balls, the New Zealand captain hit 10 fours and 5 sixes. He made a partnership of 90 runs with Bracewell for the 7th wicket. Batting first, New Zealand scored 264 runs. Netherlands team got out for just 146 runs. In the bowling, Mitchell Bracewell took three wickets for the Kiwis while Kyle Jameson and Ish Sodhi took two wickets each.
Today is also Tom Latham’s birthday. He has become the batsman to play the biggest innings in men’s ODI cricket on the day of his birthday. The left-handed batsman broke 24 years old Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Sachin scored 134 runs in 131 balls in the final of the Coca-Cola Cup against Australia on 24 April 1998. With the help of this innings of Sachin, India won the match by achieving the target of 273 runs.
New Zealand’s Ross Taylor’s name comes at number three in the list. In the 2011 World Cup against Pakistan, Taylor played an unbeaten innings of 131 runs on his birthday. Another Indian player Vinod Kambli is also named in this list. In 1993, Kambli played an unbeaten innings of 100 runs against New Zealand on his birthday.
