Scarlett Johansson and director Woody Allen have long had a close professional relationship. But Johansson once shared that she didn’t like a love scene she was convinced she was doing in one of Allen’s films. So much so that Johansson hated Allen for the rest of the day.
Woody Allen chose Scarlett Johansson in “Match Point” because he thought she was sexy
Match point was a 2005 crime thriller starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson. Initially, Kate Winslet was supposed to star opposite Myers. But Winslet would later turn down the role.
To choose Johansson, director Woody Allen had to study Johansson’s work in other films. This is because the director admitted that he is not a very sociable person, so he did not like to personally meet the actors to evaluate their skills.
“I’m not a great social person. I don’t like meeting people, and it’s a very uncomfortable thing when an actor or actress comes in. They want to be appreciated and hired for the job; I meet six of them and only one of them can have the job. So I usually try to choose between movies and videos, and then when I pick someone I like, I watch live just to make sure that’s who I think they are, ”Allen once told Total Film.
He used the same casting process to hire Johansson, who possessed many of the qualities he was looking for.
“I saw her come in Lost in translation And Ghost world and he thought she was beautiful, sexy, a wonderful actress – completely interesting on screen. I just felt like many other people that she was a new, legitimate and authentic movie star who had exploded on the screen, but not superficially: she had a real depth of herself, ”she said.

Johansson has shot many love scenes in his long and prolific career. But the Black Widow star once admitted that her scene in Match point he was one who put her in a bad mood. It was because the conditions of the film were not at all to Johansson’s liking.
“I was definitely unhappy,” he once said according to People. “I mean, getting completely wet and soaking, especially when you’re wearing jeans, is like the most unpleasant thing, especially when you’re all nice and toasty, and they say, ‘We’re going to empty buckets of water on you.’ At first I thought, ‘I might just get wet in the rain.’ They were like, ‘We need to get you soaked.’ I really hated my client that day. I really hated Woody that day too.
It didn’t help that her co-star in Meyers ended up really hurting Johansson in the film as well.
“I had, like, a swollen eye for a couple of days … [Jonathan] it really bit my lip, actually – it opened my lip. And the next day she sent me flowers because she was feeling bad. It was so sweet, ”he confided Pop Watch (via Entertainment Weekly).
Woody Allen wasn’t sure Scarlett Johansson took acting that seriously
Allen had a very high opinion of the Marriage story actor. He even felt that he could have become one of Hollywood’s great actors if he hadn’t followed the lifestyle of other young actors.
“I don’t want to read about her in the paper with this guy or that guy, or in rehab or taking pills,” Allen once said of her according to Page Six.
However, the Oscar winner wasn’t even sure she was taking acting as seriously as she could at the time.
“I don’t think he’s always made great choices. You have to take her acting seriously. . . the way someone like Meryl Streep did, ”she added.
