SEGA has established a very close cooperation with Microsoft, under which “Super Games” will be created, however, the Japanese do not intend to offer their production partner exclusively. There are many indications that the goal of the studio is to reach a wide audience.
At the beginning of the month, SEGA and the giant from Redmond confirmed their great cooperation. The Xbox manufacturer will offer its Japanese partner technological support that will allow it to develop great titles.
Many players thought that SEGA would offer a number of new, exclusive productions that will be available exclusively on the Xbox Series X | S, however, during the last investor meeting, during which the financial results for the last quarter were presented, company representatives commented on the matter. Super Games will be available on multiple platforms:
“We already have a very close business relationship with Microsoft. We have commissioned the development of their big titles and as a third party team we deliver various items. When we announced the Super Game concept, Microsoft was sympathetic to the vision, which this time led to the project being announced. Regarding this, we are not talking about releasing games exclusively for Microsoft, but rather developing a Super Game that, together with their technical support, will hit the whole world. “
SEGA is pursuing a mid- to long-term strategy that will result in “big global titles” focusing on such foundations as “global”, “online”, “community” and “IP use”. Currently, however, no specific items have been announced.
The Japanese have confirmed that they have long established a close relationship with Microsoft – the producer’s and publisher’s teams had previously developed Halo Wars 2, as well as Age of Empires 4.
